Abstract
The purpose of the track geometry rating system is to convert the measurements of a track geometry car into a numerical rating for each mile of track in Iowa. The ratings allow the Department of Transportation to monitor those aspects of track condition that are included in the rating process. This partial evaluation of the statewide rail system serves as a data source for rail planning.
