Abstract
Transportation agencies are now turning to innovative traffic management solutions that use networks of computers, electronics, communications and safety systems, collectively known as "intelligent transportation systems." Trip Guide is the Des Moines metro area's intelligent transportation system. It may be the most comprehensive system of its kind in the country, among urban areas of comparable size.
