Abstract

Connected vehicles (CVs) and road weather information system (RWIS) stations are both valuable sources of road condition data. Combining the data from these sources could increase the value of this information and enhance road safety and traffic control. Iowa DOT and other state transportation agencies sought to understand the state of the practice and potential challenges to integrating CV and RWIS data. Researchers identified a range of potential issues and provided recommendations to deploy the combined technologies.
