Abstract
Iowa is home to more than 14,000 bridges that were built between 1876 and 1985. Many of these structures are historically significant and subject to state and federal regulations. This research will consist of an evaluation of all of the bridges across the state built within that timeframe and documentation of 45 different characteristics for each structure to ensure Iowa's county engineers are working with up-to-date information.
