Abstract
The Local Public Health Services (LPHS) contract provides funding to Local Boards of Health for the delivery of population health activities and non-population health services within the jurisdiction of the Board of Health. Population health refers to the health outcomes within a group of people where as non-population health refers to considering the health of one person at a time. In order to advance population health within every Iowa county, the LPHS contract was redesigned in Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23) to initiate the dedicated use of LPHS funds towards the Public Health System Areas of Work. The required areas of work are leadership and governance; health promotion; and strengthening local public health infrastructure.
