Abstract
The Iowa Department of Corrections (IDOC) Annual Report is a testament to the hard work and dedication put forward by our staff on a daily basis. Our recidivism rate is a key indicator in determining if what we are doing is having the intended impact, and during FY2023 we are able to report a reduction in the rate of recidivism for a third consecutive year. This is a department-wide effort that is producing outcomes that positively impact public safety. It is the job of all IDOC staff to reduce recidivism and help rehabilitate individuals under our supervision. I could not be more proud of the hard work and dedication of our staff in keeping Iowa communities safe. The FY2023 annual report continues to document our progress in many of the areas that impact recidivism the most.
