Abstract

This study's purpose is to analyze the land cost per acre incurred by the public in the advance purchase of 4-lane Right of Way when only 2-lane Right of Way is initially required. The holding period for the study is assumed to be from 5 to 20 years. The past and projected increase in Iowa farmland prices are then discussed as well a s considerations regarding the economic and social costs of 4-lane advance acquisition.
