Des Moines Arts Festival
Named Nearly the Best in U.S.

The Des Moines Arts Festival, one of Iowa's largest community events, has been named the sixth best fine arts festival in the nation, up from seventh last year. The ranking publication, the ArtFair SourceBook, is the preeminent annual guide to the best arts festivals and craft fairs in the country. The festival has climbed from 117th in 1998 to its current sixth place ranking for the 2003 show.

The Des Moines Arts Festival features 150 artists, many nationally known, and a plethora of activities and entertainment over the downtown river bridges for people of all ages. Since it began in 1998, it has attracted more than 800,000 people to the downtown Des Moines riverfront.

The Des Moines Arts Festival is a nonprofit organization founded by the Des Moines Art Center and is dedicated to producing a free cultural event. The 2003 Festival will be June 27-29.
