Abstract
Alzheimer’s disease is responsible for more deaths annually than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. As the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States, it is a growing concern in Iowa, one that will challenge the state’s healthcare systems, community resources and individuals whose lives are impacted by the disease. A multifaceted approach with increased awareness, decreased stigma and improved local dementia-related infrastructure will help reduce the burden in Iowa.
