Abstract
Transmission trends have changed the epidemiological profile of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) in recent years. The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has monitored this life-threatening infection since 1983. Two distinct time periods, 1983 through 1987 and 1993 through 1995, are used here to illustrate this shifting pattern of AIDS case reporting in Iowa.
