Abstract
During legislative hearings in 1974, an Iowa Energy Policy Council representative reported on Iowa's response to energy problems during the 1972-73 energy crisis and presented the Council's views on Project Independence issues. This document describes the emergence of the Iowa Energy Policy Council that was created as a result of a law passed by the Iowa Legislature during the energy crisis of 1972-1973. The Council said that the states and the federal government must work together to create a federal energy plan to successfully coordinate conservation efforts, energy research, energy resource development and energy distribution.
