Abstract
This profile describes the epidemiology of HIV infection, hepatitis C, and other reportable sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in Iowa through 2015. The report characterizes the distribution of these diseases in terms of geography, race, gender, age, and associated causal factors. This epidemiological profile also serves as guidance for Iowa’s comprehensive HIV prevention and care plan. The description of HIV disease in the state will serve to guide prevention and service efforts, to quantify unmet need for prevention and care programs, and to evaluate programs and policies in Iowa.
