Abstract

The State of Iowa offers a wide variety of equestrian trail opportunities on 58 state and county areas. These trails vary in length from one to 50 miles. Equestrian camping is provided in 39 areas, which range from modem to primitive. This trail guide was developed to provide detailed information regarding equestrian facilities throughout the state so visitors will know what to expect when they arrive with their horses for a day's ride or a camping adventure. Equestrian trails are generally open in early spring until the first snow fall. However, trails may be temporarily closed throughout the season if they are determined to be too wet for riding.
