Abstract

Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack signed a new statute related to animal agriculture, Senate File 2293. Included in this new law was a section (Appendix A: Iowa Code section 459.207) requiring the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to perform a study of the airborne pollutants emitted by animal feeding operations (AFO’s), including hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, and odor. The odor measurements for the study were taken from 2003 through 2005.
