Abstract
There were 36 girls identified as eligible candidates for the State Training School in 2015 per Iowa Code Section 232.52, subsection 2, paragraph “e”. The eligibility criteria was used to identify girls in the “deep end” of the juvenile justice system who have a combination of high risk, high need, aggressive behavior, with prior placements, and a risk to public safety due to their serious, violent, and chronic offenses. All data contained herein relates to this cohort of young women.
