Abstract
The court appointed the Committee on Jury Selection to ensure the makeup of jury pools and jurors represent a fair cross-section of the community. A fair and effective jury system ensures that jury pools result in a reasonable reflection of community demographic characteristics and a “jury of one’s peers.” The Sixth Amendment of the United States Constitution and article I, section 10 of the Iowa Constitution entitle defendants to a jury pool that represents a fair cross-section of the community.
