Abstract
Legalized pari-mutuel race tracks began operation in Iowa on June 1, 1985. Harness racing, thoroughbred and greyhound racing will become exciting new spectator sports for Iowa residents and visitors. Tracks are being built at various locations throughout the state, featuring concessions and dining facilities. Some people may choose to simply enjoy the excitement of racing, while others will choose Lo place wagers in various ways on the races.
