Abstract

This project is designed to fill the need for a comprehensive technical information document for vegetation management in roadsides. It is for use during planning, budgeting, and program development. It facilitates decision making by providing Roadside Managers with information on alternatives, procedures, implementation requirements, costs and future maintenance needs. This manual addresses important considerations when planning a vegetation management program for a specific site. It is an aide for Roadside Managers in assessing vegetation management goals. And it will serve as an operations manual with information presented in a manner managers can quickly reference as needed. Sections include species selection, establishment, erosion control and vegetation maintenance. The manual in its current form is by no means the finished product. It is in a loose leaf form in anticipation of continual growth as new material is produced and acquired. Hopefully the user will feel free to offer suggestions for changes that will shape this document into its most useful form.
