Abstract

The general aim of the Iowa State Water Resources Research Project No. A-040-IA, "Natural Mixing and Transfer Processes for Thermal Loads in Streams", identified on the title page of this report, was to obtain a better understanding of t he processes by which a heated water discharge i s mixed with flowing stream water and the excess heat is transferred to t he surrounding environment. The way i n which these t wo processes combine t o produce the resulting temperature distribution pattern in the stream was also a goal of this study.
