Abstract
Bicycling comes with physical and environmental benefits and is an activity that is well-suited for children. Bicycling also has inherent risks and bicycling injuries pose a large health burden among school-age children. Increasing child bicycle safety education is an important piece to increasing child bicycle safety. There are numerous child bicycle education programs taught throughout the United States and beyond. However, there is no gold standard education program and program content and durations vary widely from program to program. In order to better understand the variations in approaches and content, this project aimed to create an inventory of child bicycle education programs within the context of age and developmental considerations. Programs were identified through web and database searches, personal lists, and an online survey. Ninety-six programs were included in this inventory. Common program components were compiled by age group.
