Abstract

The "Self Evaluative Criteria for Iowa Schools" is designed to provide a complete evaluation of the total experiences that a school provides for its boys and girls. The self evaluation process is part of a four-phase program for Iowa schools. Phase I is the awareness of a need to evaluate; Phase II is the organization of the local school into committees to determine the present condition of the several areas contained in this document; Phase III is the actual on-site visit by the evaluation team; and Phase IV is the follow-up process of the team visit. The material is not designed to be restrictive or prescriptive upon the local educational system, but rather as a way for the school to take a look at the learning process and procedures to ascertain if the goals of the district compare with its stated educational philosophy.
