Abstract
This paper describes the design of a system to interactively link the two packages and utilizes the system through a collection of tests and a case study. The paper concludes by presenting a comparison of the system with current transportation forecasting procedures. The goal in this paper was to link a low-cost, desktop GIS package with a transportation forecasting model to better fit the technical knowledge and budget restrictions of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) and Regional Planning Associations (RP As) in Iowa.
