Abstract

The ever-present campaign toward the preservation of lives carries on in Iowa among all law enforcement officers, safety educators, traffic engineers and safety leaders throughout the State, as well as the entire Nation. It is through the publication of the 1945 Edition of IOWA HIGHWAY ACCIDENT FACTS that we hope to define more clearly our present traffic problems and the trend motor vehicle accidents have taken during the year 1944, which resulted in 310 deaths and 4,518 injuries. The State of Iowa can be proud of its record m comparison with other states in the Nation, but our campaign must not stop there. We must continue to take every possible step in educating our people in highway safety- caution in driving, correction of faulty equipment on motor vehicles, carelessness. Traffic accidents result in loss of human life, loss of physical abilities, loss of vehicles, and loss of money.
