Abstract
During the period from June 7 to June 28 of 1966, the Iowa State Highway Commission, in cooperation with the United States Bureau of Public Roads , conducted a series of traffic counts in the Mason City urban area . The purpose in taking these counts was to gather data to be used in preparing this supplement to the 1962 Mason City Origin-Destination Traffic Report. Automatic portable traffic recorders were placed at the exact points where interview stations were located in the 1962 study and eight hour manual vehicle classification counts were made a t each interview station location. In addition, five turning movement counts were made at strategic points throughout t h e city to gather additional data. All portable recorders were operated for periods ranging from two to five days and all manual counts were for periods of eight hours.
