Abstract

The monograph describes six computer programs. Three of the programs, ALLOC IV, ALLOC V, and ALLOC VI, contain heuristic algorithms for solving p-median problems. ALLOC IV and ALLOC V can solve moderate- sized problems, involving up to several hundred locations. ALLOC VI uses special methods of storing and manipulating data to solve much larger problems, involving up to several thousand locations. As did the original ALLOC program, these three programs combine more than one algorithm.
