Abstract

The Iowa Core Essential Elements (EEs) are specific statements of knowledge and skills linked to the grade-level expectations identified in the Iowa Core Standards. The purpose of the EEs is to build a bridge from the content in the Iowa Core Standards to academic expectations for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. This document provides a high‐level view of the relationship between the Iowa Core Standards and the links to performance for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. The document is not intended as a stand‐alone guide to instruction, nor is it intended to contain all the steps in a complete learning progression or detailed curriculum.
