Abstract
This investigation was undertaken upon the suggestion and invitation of Mr. Mark Morris, Research Assistant of the Materials and Tests Department of the Iowa Highway Commission. It has been conducted jointly by the author and Mr. J.W. Johnson of the department. Mr. Johnson organized the study and took the original data on culvert No. 1 and assisted materially with the date on No. 2. Acknowledgement is also due to Mr. K.M. Bennett, resident engineer on the job, who aided in taking the original data and whose courtesy and willingness to cooperate are appreciated.
