Abstract
An Iowa student is able to receive funding through multiple scholarship and grant programs administered by the Iowa College Student Aid Commission (Iowa College Aid), as long as the student meets the eligibility criteria for each program. This technique of distributing financial aid is referred to as “stacking.” There are various methods of stacking, but generally the process involves awarding each scholarship and grant until the student qualifies for no additional assistance or until the student’s total financial aid meets a maximum threshold (such as meeting the student’s financial need or cost of attendance). The data in this report provides insight into the prevalence of stacking under Iowa College Aid-administered financial aid awards.
