Abstract
Pursuant to Section 3 of Iowa Acts Chapter 1077 of the 87th General Assembly, the Iowa DOT (DOT) was directed to “estimate the impact of increased usage of electric, hybrid, and other high-efficiency motor vehicles in this state on future revenues to the road use tax fund.” The Iowa DOT was also required to “evaluate and may recommend the creation of alternative funding mechanisms or the alteration of existing funding mechanisms to mitigate any estimated decrease in future revenues to the road use tax fund related to increased usage of electric, hybrid, and other high-efficiency motor vehicles.” The attached document is the Iowa DOT’s report that fulfills this requirement.
