Abstract
This publication is the culmination of a long series of investigations undertaken to interpret and classify the Pleistocene deposits and the soils in this region. This report includes observations from cores drilled through that entire sequence of Pleistocene deposits at several key locations. These observations, in concert with the large amount of quantitative data on the physical, mineralogical and geotechnical properties, allow the development of a new stratigraphic framework. An understanding of the stratigraphic and areal distribution of these materials is fundamental to their proper utilization.
