Abstract
The Iowa Department of Corrections is responsible for the control and treatment of offenders committed under law to state penal institutions and community-based programs. The governing policy board for the Department is Corrections. The· Board consists of seven members who Governor and subject to senate confirmation. staggered four-year terms. The Board of Corrections appointed by the Board members serve The chief administrative officer for the Department of Corrections is the Director whose major responsibilities are to establish goals, provide direction for the Department, implement and monitor long-range planning and programs, and assure progress toward goals and compliance with policies. The Iowa Department of Corrections consists of four divisions: the Division of Administration, the Division of Institutions, the Division of Community Services, and the Division of Prison Industries.
