Abstract
A water quality survey of the Rock River was conducted during winter low flow conditions. Results of the survey indicate the discharges from several wastewater treatment plants had a deteriorating effect on the Rock River 1s water quality. Downstream of the waste discharges, fecal coliform, ammonia nitrogen, filtrable phosphate, BOD and chlorides increased significantly. Assimilation of the organic waste by the Rock River was much better than expected under winter conditions.
