Abstract

This documentation outlines the many procedures followed and sources used in developing that structure and data inputs foe the CARDRANN (Center for Agricultural and Rural Development-Research Applied to National Needs) linear programming model of the U.S. agricultural sector. This model considers the relationship of agriculture to land and water use and the environment. The model was developed in stages over a period of more than 15 years with many members of the research team working under the guidance of Earl O. Heady, Center director. !he model utilized a revised set of the budget data initially developed by Roger Eyvindson in a research project sponsored by the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station.
