Abstract

The Energy and Mineral Resources Research Institute (EMRRI) of Iowa State University (ISU) is the State of Iowa's leading energy and minerals research organization. As the arm of Iowa State University charged with conducting energy and mineral resources research, EMRRI has the responsibility of organizing the various resources of the University into multidisciplinary research teams. A significant number of research studies have thus far been completed and additional research and training are planned. Areas of immediate interest include(1) mining and restoration of prime agricultural lands, (2)environmental guidelines associated with surface mining, (3) coal beneficiation, (4) mineral process development, and (5) economics of Iowa coal production.
