Abstract
White amur have been used to effectively control most species of vascular aquatic vegetation in small ponds. Since 1962, all quantitative evaluations of biological vegetation control by white amur have been in small culture ponds or aquaria, and there is a need for quantitative, critical evaluation of the effort of this species on macrophytes in larger bodies of water with vegetation problems. White amur is an exotic species to this continent and it is imperative to determine what impact the introduction has on native species in a man-made impoundment.
