Abstract
This experience is documented through the written record of agricultural societies; descriptions in gazetteers and almanacs; issues of popular and trade periodicals; censuses taken by the state; books and other texts; publications of experiment stations, extension services, and government agencies; and papers in manuscript and archival collections. The preservation of this material is critical because much of the literature was printed on poor quality paper that has become brittle and fragile over time.
