Abstract
This publication is about Nitrate problem. Poisonous gases produced in a silo by the reduction of nitrates present in the ensiled material can cause sickness or death of animals and people in or near the silo. During the first few weeks after forages are put in a silo, nitrates in the forages are reduced to nitrogen oxides and escape as gases that are very toxic.
