Abstract

This small publication contains two parts: one, a very brief and general statement of certain salient factors involved in group therapy and, second, an analysis of the group therapy program conducted at the Iowa State Penitentiary, Ft. Madison, Iowa from 1950 to 1952. The study of the group therapy program at the Penitentiary was made possible by a grant-in-aid from the Harvard Research Center in Creative Altruism. A preliminary report on the findings was made at the annual meeting of the Midwest Sociological Society in the spring of 1952.
