Abstract

The Survey Report presents a detailed and comprehensive analysis of a wide range of mental health needs and services in the state. Familiarity with the details is imperative for those who wish to use the report as a basis for action. This Summary is presented to provide a brief statement of the data and the reasoning which underlies the recommendations. The recommendations which are presented here represent a consensus of expert judgment, adapted to the particular needs of Iowa. They are not final answers. Psychiatry is in a state of rapid growth; great advances have been achieved in methods of prevention and treatment in recent years, and research results are encouraging.
