Abstract
The diseases summarized in this, the 1951-1960 report on communicable diseases, differ in several instances from t he diseases included in the previous ten-year summary. Smallpox and malaria are not included here because during the ten-year interval no cases, proved either to be smallpox or t o be malaria actually acquired in Iowa, were reported to us. The pneumonia summary has been dropped for another reason. Almost all of our pneumonia case reports come to us from death certificates.
