Abstract
A constitutional convention was convened in Iowa City to frame a constitution for the new state of Iowa. The convention completed its work in only twenty-six days and submitted a constitution to the Federal Congress and people of the Iowa territory. In an act of Congress admitting Iowa to the Union, the boundaries of the state were changed from the boundaries that had been set forth in the constitution of 1844.
