Abstract

The pages that follow are filled with up-to-date information on agencies and organizations that can offer you and your community technical assistance in solving a host of detailed programs. You may wish to ask "assistance for what?" The question is not only valid but vital. Before you look for help, you should have isolated your community's most pressing problems. Without such a problem assessment, there is a clear risk of formulating programs for community improvement merely on the basis of the accessibility of technical aid. The importance of carefully assessing your community's needs before referring to other communities ' findings cannot be & overstressed. For this reason it is suggested that, before you begin considering to whom t .o turn for assistance, you inquire carefully of people in your community who have been in touch with the pulse of its people for some time.
