Abstract
Quitting tobacco during pregnancy is safe! Even one day of not smoking gives your baby more oxygen. Quitting smoking takes stress off of your baby. Secondhand smoke increases the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, so quit now! Thirdhand smoke (the particles from cigarette smoke that fall onto surfaces like clothing and furniture) has lots of effects on babies including: asthma, ear infections and pneumonia.
