Abstract

Availability of water for agricultural use s one of the major factors determining agricultural production in the Western United States and this area ' s contribution to national production levels. In this publication the existing knowledge on water availability is drawn together to develop a consistent and dependable set of water supply projections for the Western United States for 1985 and 2000. This water supply data can then be used as a basis for analyzing the allocation and use of the nation's water resources under alternative national agricultural reduction and environmental quality policies.
