Abstract

The story of Iowa's Old Capitol is the complete record of the state's advancement, from the days of the midwestern Indians down to our own time. The monumental stone building, around which the State University of Iowa has grown for a hundred years, was beginning to look down upon the valley of the Iowa River while the Sac and Fox Indians were still lingering in eastern Iowa.
