Abstract
History of the Iowa Board of Medicine without briefly mentioning the early history of the practice of medicine in Iowa. The first trained physicians to be in the territory that eventually would become the state of Iowa were Army surgeons, traveling with military expeditions throughout the region in the early 1800s.
