Abstract
We believe all Iowans deserve an opportunity to live a healthy life. To achieve this goal, IDPH is focused on health equity. Health equity simply means working to ensure every Iowan has access to the resources and services needed to be healthy. At IDPH, this means prioritizing resources to focus on those most in need, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, income, sexual orientation, neighborhood or other social condition. Toward this end, our employees are always seeking to improve the way we do our work. Quality improvement and performance measurement are critical aspects of the department’s culture. By focusing on implementing best practices, we are continually improving the quality of public health services and programs for the people of Iowa.
