Test 1
Both testers met with the same person who gave them applications and referred them to the job book in the office. The African American tester approached the person after viewing the job book and inquired about a specific position. The person told the African American tester to complete the application and return it. The white tester approached the person after viewing the job book. The person was on the phone and a second staff member came forward to help. The tester inquired about a specific position and the second staff member offered to let the tester meet with someone concerning the position.
Housing:
Test 1
The testers met with different managers. The African American tester was shown one apartment and the white tester was shown two apartments.
Test 2
The testers met with different managers. The African American tester was told that there would be openings in five weeks. The white tester was told there would be an opening in two weeks.
Familial Status:
Test 1
The manager told the tester he wanted to put her in a unit above the clubhouse because she had children. The manager told the tester, "So you know we got a lot of, some older people there. And they kind of, when someone makes a little noise they're kind of complaining. You know how that is. And I had thought it would be more comfortable for someone [that] had children to be over the clubroom than to be over tenants."

The managers informed the testers that there was a limit of two children for their two bedroom apartments.
