Dear
Iowan,
As the newly elected State Commissioner of Elections
and Registrar of Voters, I want to encourage you to exercise your
right to vote! My goal as Secretary of State is to make Iowa number
1 in the nation in voter participation. This Voter Guide is intended
to help all eligible Iowans, regardless of health or physical
disability, to register and vote on election day. This guide contains
information on voter registration, voting accessibility, absentee
voting and important election dates and deadlines. The Iowa Department
for the Blind has an audio cassette version of this Voter Guide
available for your convenience.
Your county auditor is your local source for voter
information. If you have a question that is not addressed in this
guide or have other questions about election dates, polling places,
or voter registration records, please contact your county auditor.
The address and phone number for your county auditor can be found
in the list of county auditors beginning on page 11 in this guide.
However, you should feel free to contact my staff in the Elections
Division with any of your election-related questions of concerns
at (515) 281-5865. You may also call toll free at 1-888-SOS-vote(1-888-767-8683)
to leave a message, or visit our website at: www.sos.state.ia.us.
I hope you will find this guide a valuable resource.
Please refer to it often when you need quick answers to your questions.
Sincerely,
Chester J. Culver
Secretary of State
