Abstract

This report presents the results of the June 30, 2017 actuarial valuation of the Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System (IPERS). The primary purposes of performing the valuation are as follows: to determine the Actuarial Contribution Rates (ACR) and the Required Contribution Rate (RCR) for the Regular membership, Sheriffs and Deputies, and the Protection Occupation group (all public safety members other than Sheriffs and Deputies) in accordance with IPERS’ Contribution Rate Funding Policy (described in Appendix D), to evaluate the funded status of the System and disclose various asset and liability measures as of June 30, 2016, to determine the experience of the System since the last valuation, and to analyze and report on trends in System contributions, assets, and liabilities over the past several years.
